Admission essay excerpt

I don’t throw in the towel and easily give up without considering every possible solution first, and that makes me a good negotiator.  Whether I’m trying to convince clients or simply arguing with friends, I make sure that all sides are covered.  Even as a young child, this special trait of mine has always been apparent among my teachers and classmates who run to me for advice and consultation.  As a student representative, I would find myself negotiating with other students and some teachers until we arrive at a win-win situation or both parties have agreed to settle the issue.  I don’t hastily react to situations without first considering the consequences and better solutions.  With proven negotiating skills, my early managers have noticed that I have a way with people and I take advantage of that when dealing with clients, running a meeting for our team, and simply reporting to senior executives.  This trait, however, is not enough to make me a competent manager and more effective leader if not coupled with higher business learning, improved managerial skills, and up-to-date business strategies that I can achieve through an MBA program.
